Week 4

This week, I developed a deeper understanding of how to approach interviews, especially when covering stories that involve controversy. I learned that conducting a difficult interview requires careful preparation, a clear sense of purpose, and a respectful but persistent attitude. It’s important to ask direct, well-informed questions while remaining calm and professional, even if the subject becomes defensive or emotional. I also realized the value of active listening—paying close attention to not just what is said, but how it is said—so I can ask meaningful follow-up questions. Overall, this experience showed me that handling challenging interviews is about balancing empathy with accountability to uncover the truth while maintaining ethical journalistic standards.
